Peru cuts mango output

This article was originally published in Foodnews

PERUVIAN mango production will be less than the original estimates of 200 000-250 000 tonnes, according to the country’s Association of Mango Producers and Exporters (APEM). APEM is predicting 180 000 tonnes for the 2011-12 season, after the previous high production led to an over-supply and consequent weak prices. Peru has been sending as many as 300 containers of fresh mango to the US, which can only really support sales of 180 containers.
