Mango export successThis article was originally published in Foodnews
PAKISTAN has exported more than 150 000 tonnes of mango this year, meeting its annual target. The total harvest is put at 1.6-1.8 million tonnes and exporters say more could have been sold abroad, given decent marketing and government support. Pakistan’s main customers for its fresh mango include Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, the UAE, Sweden, Denmark, the UK, France, Singapore and Malaysia. A lot of exports to Iran, Afghanistan and central Asian states are actually illegal, but are counted in the tally anyway.
