LACTALIS, the French dairy products maker, may set up an operation in Bulgaria, according to the country's Agriculture Ministry. On August 4, Deputy Agriculture Minister, Tsvetan Dimitrov, has held meetings with farmers in northern Bulgaria. Lactalis has visited the facilities of a local dairy producer, and Lactalis spokesman Eric Boutroux said the company was interested in "collaborating with Bulgarian farms that want to develop their activities, as well as in the setting up of processing plants." Lactalis's choices lie between buying an existing operation, or starting from scratch.
