Greece raises soft drinks tax

GREECE plans to raise the sales tax on fruit juices, soft drinks and bottled water from 13% to 23%, according to the Kathimerini newspaper.The tax increases will take effect from September. Vegetable juices and ready-to-drink coffee and tea beverages are included in the new tax bracket. When the tax was raised to its present 13% earlier this year (previously, it was 9%) bottled water sales fell by one-fifth.
