New rice drinksThis article was originally published in Foodnews
WORTHENSHAWS-Freedom, a fledgling UK food firm, has launched chilled Freedom Rice and Oat drinks, marketed as non-dairy alternatives to milk that are naturally low in saturated fat. The products are free of dairy, sugar, gluten and soya and are recommended served chilled over cereal, in tea or coffee, in sauces and savoury dishes. The drinks, suitable for vegetarians, coeliacs and vegans, are retailing in the Asda supermarket chain and a range of health stores in the UK, priced at GBP1.39 (USD2.26) per one-litre carton. Worthenshaws-Freedom was established in 2009 and last year launched a range of frozen desserts.
