Singha eyes soft drinks

SINGHA Corporation, Thailand's biggest brewer, is exploring whether to enter the soft drinks market as part of efforts to reduce its reliance on beer. The giant is moving into the Thai seafood snacks business (FOODNEWS 8 June) and, according to a source quoted by the Bangkok Post , could utilise its strong distribution network in the traditional trade – which generates 75% of total soft drinks sales in the country – to enter soft drinks. Singha would not confirm any plans to the newspaper. The country's carbonated soft drinks market is worth THB90 million (USD3 billion).
