Luxury garlic in supermarkets

This article was originally published in Foodnews

BLACK Garlic has won new listings in UK retailers Tesco and Waitrose, adding to its retail outlets in the country. Developed in South Korea as a health food, Black Garlic is produced from raw garlic through a controlled heating and moisture process that lasts several weeks. With nearly twice the antioxidants of garlic, Black Garlic is described as a delicacy with "subtle hints of balsamic and rich molasses flavours mixed with tangy undertones" and is billed as an ideal store-cupboard ingredient. Black Garlic launched into 120 Waitrose stores and 874 Tesco stores, priced from GBP1.49 (USD2.40).
