Mackerel recalled

This article was originally published in Foodnews

CROATIAN firm Podravka has recalled 1 600 cans of Eva mackerel fillets due to a high concentration of histamine found in the product. An inspection prompted by a consumer's allergic reaction discovered that the canned fish contained quantities of histamine higher than allowed, the Jutarnji List newspaper reports. As histamine can be released by disintegration of intestines if the fish is not iced immediately after being caught, inspectors suspect mackerel may have been contaminated before packaging.
