Rise in Chilean AJC exportsThis article was originally published in Foodnews
CHILE, as has been reported to FOODNEWS , is indeed enjoying a very successful season for its AJC exports to Europe, because it has been able to price its products cheaper than those from China. Karl Huber, general manager of processor Patagoniafresh and a director of the Chilealimentos trade association, told FOODNEWS that there has been a steep increase in AJC sales to Europe. He confirmed that this has not yet shown up in the customs export figures (which are those used by GTIS and thus FOODNEWS ), but said that they would be reflected in the figures for June, July and August. "This is our peak export season," he said, "and the growth will be important. However, our main market will continue to be the US."
