Hungary plans drinks levy

This article was originally published in Foodnews

HUNGARY plans to levy a HUF10 (USD0.05) per litre tax on sugar-sweetened soft drink producers from September. The proposal is at draft legislation stage. The moves are part of wider junk food taxes that the government hopes will improve Hungarian diets while generating more revenue for the country's debt-ridden healthcare system.
