Nations scramble to identify and isolate DEHP products

This article was originally published in Foodnews

MORE drinks have been recalled in Asia following the discovery of contamination by industrial plasticisers, known as DEHP or phthalates (FOODNEWS online 25 May). Nearly 200 beverage manufacturers have so far been found to have used phthalates as an emulsifier, and it has led to nearly a million drinks being pulled from the shelves in Taiwan. The banned substance has also been found in drinks served from stalls in Taipei's famous Shilin Night Market.
