Russian potato shortage

This article was originally published in Foodnews

POTATO production in Russia is likely to be small, and prices high, due to an estimated 300 000 tonne shortfall in availability of seed potatoes, the French Trade Commission's portal, Ubifrance, reports. This could lead to growers using poor quality ware potatoes for seed. Some observers are warning of health risks (rotting foliage and tubers), which are already present and could increase.
