European apricot production to fall 20%, peaches to increase

This article was originally published in Foodnews

A SHARP decline is expected in European apricot production in 2011, due in particular to climatic factors in Italy and Greece, according to data presented at the annual Europêch meeting at the Medfel fair in Perpignan, France last week. By contrast, Europêch expects peach and nectarine production to be higher than the past two years, although clingstone peach production for the canning industry will continue to fall significantly.
