KARNATAKA Milk Federation (KMF) of India may set up a dairy joint venture with Fonterra, the giant New Zealand co-operative, according to Indian media reports. The company has proposed a joint venture cheese factory in Bangalore where KMF has suggested investment of INR800 million (USD17.8 million). Currently, KMF, India's second-largest dairy producer after Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, makes cheddar cheese, paneer, cottage cheese, yogurt and cream, as well as ethnic products and ice cream which are sold in India and abroad.
