ISLE of Arran Distillery has reported a 450% profit rise for 2010 on the back of record sales for its Scotch, particularly in export markets, Scotland's Business7 reported. Export sales rose by 45% – compared with an export growth of 10% for the total Scotch whisky market – with flagship Arran brand doing particularly well. Sales of the malt in France grew by 86% and other big gains were made in Canada and Taiwan, whilst the brand also outperformed more established rivals in Norway. Last year the distillery announced plans to double its production to more than 260 000 litres of pure alcohol per year.
