Dairy launches coconut waterThis article was originally published in Foodnews
KARNATAKA Milk Federation (KMF), the largest co-operative dairy federation in south India, is entering the coconut water market. KMF's product will be packed in Tetra Paks and sold through its Nandini milk supply chain. The company already sells its long-life milk in Tetra Paks. The move into coconut water was prompted by spare capacity: the company was only using about half its milk processing capacity, and coconut water not only allows its plants to work for longer, but also increases its product spread. Apparently, demand for coconut water rises steeply in the summer. KMF is also planning to launch mineral water, in bottles and packs.
