A NUMBER of vegetable varieties have appeared on shop shelves in Italy earlier than usual in 2011 due to unusually warm weather for this time of year, particularly in the north of the country.Italian agricultural organisation Coldiretti said that the conditions had meant a number of varieties that traditionally only appear from May have ripened early, including broad beans and peas, artichokes and all salad varieties.
