Fonterra to auction cheddar

FONTERRA, the New Zealand dairy giant, is to add industrial cheddar to its electronic auctions from 19 July. And from 17 May Fonterra will begin offering milk protein concentrate (MPC) and rennet casein. This will expand the range of products available online to seven, including whole milk powder (WMP), skim milk powder (SMP), butter milk powder and anhydrous milk fat, or industrial butter. Fonterra director, Ian Palliser, said adding cheese was in line with Fonterra's plans to provide customers with a wide range of products on a world-class platform. Fonterra has invited other international dairy companies such as Arla Foods, FrieslandCampina, California Dairies, DairyAmerica and Murray Goulburn to develop draft market rules to become a multi-party sales platform.
