THE federal and São Paulo governments are working on a new policy concerning minimum stocks of orange juice, to guarantee supplies to the domestic market as demand continues to grow in Brazil. The issue was discussed during a meeting between the São Paulo secretary of agriculture, João Sampaio, and the minister of agriculture, Wagner Rossi earlier this month. "With an increase in salaries, a need to encourage domestic demand, and pressure to satisfy local consumption spurred on by policies on juice at schools, we have started negotiations to create a policy of minimum juice stocks," Sampaio said.
