FCOJ merger gets green light

BRAZIL's Secretariat for Economic Monitoring (SEAE), part of the country's finance ministry, has approved the merger of juice companies Citrosuco and Citrovita (FOODNEWS 21 May 2010) . According to SEAE, the move will not harm competition in the raw material or frozen orange juice market. The new business will now be evaluated by the Secretariat for Economic Law (SDE) belonging to the ministry of justice, before being checked by the Administrative Board for Economic Protection (CADE).The merger, which was announced in May 2010, will create the world's largest orange juice producer, fusing together production, transport, distribution from both companies.
