British asparagus

This article was originally published in Foodnews

The super-early asparagus has been grown by Michael Porter in Worcestershire, who is part of a group of British farmers supplying Waitrose. The glasshouse system protects the asparagus during the colder months, while growth is slower. In late December the fern is cut off and covered the soil in fleece to increase the speed of growth.
