Spanish potato output down

THE SPANISH mid/late potato season has finished with a 15-20% drop in average yield compared with 2009 and higher prices forecast for the longer term, reports Ubifrance . Latest estimates from the Spanish ministry of agriculture put production of late potato varieties this season at around 760 900 tonnes, compared with 853 400 tonnes last season, while mid-season output will be 1.18 million tonnes, compared with 1.15 million tonnes in 2009.
