A STRIKE by a group of workers at a Heinz factory in Venezuela has had a knock on effect on 167 companies, including suppliers, delivery services and transporters, according to a company statement. Sugar plants, glass bottle makers, packing companies and metal lid manufacturers are all thought to have been affected by a dispute over workers' salaries which began on30 January at San Joaquín. The company has asked workers "to think and act sensibly" in an attempt to normalise the situation at the plant. "Heinz has reaffirmed that it is ready to resume negotiations regarding the collective agreement soon, while respecting the law, and under supervision of the authorities," the company said.
