THE UK's Food Standards Agency is asking for views on an unusual product put forward as a novel food: rooster comb extract. A Spanish company has applied to the agency for approval to market the extract made from the rooster's comb – the fleshy piece of red skin on top of the animal's head – which it plans to add to dairy foods including milks, yogurts and fromage frais.
