Good kiwifruit crop

This article was originally published in Foodnews

THE kiwifruit harvest in the New Zealand region of Nelson is forecast to be 30% higher this year than last, the Nelson Mail reported. The Mainland Kiwi Growers Entity told the newspaper that good pollination and growing conditions meant the region's 75 or so growers were forecast to produce just under 3.50 million trays of fruit, compared with 2.65 million trays last season, when cold weather led to lower yields. The green crop is estimated at 2.9 million trays (up from 2.3 million), the gold crop at 480 000 trays (up from 299 000 trays), and the organic crop would double to 82 000 trays.
