This article was originally published in Foodnews

POLISH fruit and vegetable prices are higher than last year, with apples and prunes noticeably more expensive than they were in 2009, according to data from Warsaw's agricultural and food wholesale market in Bronisze. The price of onions and bananas has shot up, reaching PLN1.75 (USD0.58) per kg for white onions from PLN1.25/kg previously. In December 2009, the white onion price did not exceed PLN0.65/kg. Potato prices increased by nearly 20%. Dried mushrooms, however, are almost 50% cheaper than they were last year.
