New Spanish freezing plant

This article was originally published in Foodnews

SPANISH frozen food company Ulbasa, which specialises in deep freezing spinach and chard, has opened a processing plant in La Albuera, Badajoz. According to the company, it will process 48 000 tonnes every year. The president of Ulbasa, Javier Virto, stressed how important supermarket chain Mercadona had been to the project, by guaranteeing to buy all its deep frozen vegetables from Ulbasa. In the longer term, the plant will increase the amount of vegetables it processes, sourcing crops from Extremadura, Valladolid, Jerez de la Frontera and Cordoba, resulting in a constant supply of raw material for 11 months of the year.
