Nigerian nuts now cleared for Brazil

BRAZIL has lifted a ban on imports of raw cashew nuts (RCN) from Nigeria following the introduction of new phytosanitary rules to manage all such imports, writes Vladimir Pekic. "The [Nigerian] product has to be: fumigated to eliminate possible pests, packed in new sacks and free of vegetable remains and soil material," said Jefé Leão Ribeiro, head of the pest risk analysis division at Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA).
