Processor forecasts hard year as China sees shorter tomato crop

CHINA has reported a much-reduced processing tomato crop this year, at 6.21 million tonnes compared with last year's 8.66 million tonnes, and the 7.65 million tonnes forecast before the start of the season. Yelong Qin, president of China's largest tomato processor, COFCO Tunhe, took stock of this year's harvest and discussed with FOODNEWS the prospects for the current and coming marketing seasons during the SIAL trade show.
