Chinese salmon imports

CHINA has been sourcing much more of its frozen Pacific salmon from Japan this year, with supplies from Chile, the US and Russia all down significantly on last year. Imports from Japan were up 66% in January-July, at 19 031 tonnes, while those from Chile were down 50% at 3 601 tonnes, according to GTIS data. Imports from the US fell by 51% to 1 851 tonnes, while Russian supplies slumped by 85% to just 602 tonnes. Meanwhile, some 1 322 tonnes of Pacific salmon came from Norway (up 97%).
