Carlsberg to close Swiss siteThis article was originally published in Foodnews
CARLSBERG Group will close its Fribourg, Switzerland brewery by June 2011, with volume being transferred to a Brasseries Kronenbourg brewery in Obernai, France. According to the group, the closure of the facility, which employs 75, is part of "ongoing optimisation" of its production network. Its Swiss unit, Feldschlösschen, has been running below capacity, it said, following the group's acquisition of Brasseries Kronenbourg in 2008 (World Drinks Report 7 May 2010). Feldschlösschen will focus all its operations at its main, remaining brewery in Rheinfelden. The micro brewery, Valaisanne in Sion, will be unaffected.
