Krug Bier to expand

This article was originally published in Foodnews

KRUG Bier, an artisanal brewery that produces the Áustria Bier beer and Krug Bier draft beer brands in Brazil, has announced ambitious plans to increase its production capacity. Vladimir Pekic writes: The company will invest BRL150 million (USD87 million) to build a new plant in Belo Horizonte with capacity to produce 30 million litres per year, 10 times more than is currently possible in the company's existing plant in Jardim Canadá, also in Belo Horizonte. Krug Bier president and partner Marcelo Bruzzi said his company is already in talks with investment funds and municipal authorities regarding the project for new capacity. The company has plans to expand into the critical São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro markets this year, followed by Brasilia and southern Brazil in 2011.
