New canned fish products

This article was originally published in Foodnews

FELIVARU Fisheries Maldives is planning to release canned tuna products under a different brand name following a change in management. Mohamed Waheed, general manager of the firm, said all products being exported under the Fasmeeru brand of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) would be rebranded to a name owned by the company. Fasmeeru was used while the company was under MIFCO. "We are in the process of introducing a new brand. The last four months of every year are very prosperous. So we are trying to introduce the new brand then," he said. Waheed stressed that the production and exports of fish products will not be affected, despite the change in the management. "Usually we face small operational issues, such as delays in acquiring the oil and water used in canned products," he said.
