SALES of conventional and fruit-flavoured soy beverages in Brazil are expected to grow around 20% again this year, writes Vladimir Pekic, from the BRL757 million (USD437 million) registered in 2009, according to a report published in Brasil Econômico. "Brazil has consumed a lot of this type of product due to the benefits that soybean provides," explained Joana Fleury, the Ades marketing manager at Unilever. The soy beverage market in Brazil was formed in 1996 with the launch of Ades, a Unilever product. Unilever is investing BRL20 million in the brand this year to expand its market share. The company is the undisputed market leader with 66.2% of sales (by value) in June 2010.
