Expansion in French carrot output in line with growing area

AREA planted to carrots intended for the fresh market in France in 2010/11 (May to April) is estimated to be 3% up on 2009/10, at 8 517 hectares, confirming the trend of the past three seasons. The increases are chiefly in the south-west and the west, while plantings are lower than last year in the south-east, according to estimates from the Ministry of Agriculture's Statistics and Forecasting Service (SSP).
