FRENCH fruit co-operative Cooplim, better known as Perlim, is planning substantial expansion with support from the local Corrèze council, the Limousin region and the EU, reports Les Marchés. Based in Saint Aulaire and Allassac, Perlim intends to modernise its facilities in order to adapt them to marketing its apples for export. Of the total projected budget of EUR3.67 million, EUR121 000 will come from the department, EUR319 000 from the regional council, and EUR441 000 from the EU. Member producers harvested over 58 000 tonnes of fruit in 2009, of which 60% was intended for export. The co-operative markets the region's AOP apple and walnut products Pomme du Limousin and Noix du Périgord.
