This article was originally published in Foodnews

A NEW ice cream factory has opened in Azerbaijan. The AZN15.0 million (USD16.8 million) Palfood (part of the Palmali Group) plant was opened by the country's president, Ilham Aliyev, on 25 June. The 20 000 sq.m. ISO2200-0-certified plant will produce more than two dozen varieties of ice cream, made on Danish production machinery, with a total capacity of 500 000 litres per month. A coldstore permits storage of 250 tonnes of product on-site. Palfood is hoping to export ice cream to Turkey, Georgia, Uzbekistan and other countries.
