New wine containersThis article was originally published in Foodnews
WATTLE Creek Winery of Mendocino, California has produced a sustainably harvested on-trade wine label which is shipped in 10-litre recyclable containers. The containers in which Vineyard 518 is transported are half the weight of a traditional case of wine, reducing their carbon footprint. The box is created from post-consumer cardboard, and both the plastic bag insert and box are fully recyclable. The fruit for Vineyard 518 comes from the Yorkville Highlands appellation in Mendocino. The first two varietals available under the label are a Sauvignon Blanc and a Syrah blend, retailing at USD15.50 for half a carafe.
