GRUPO Consorcio Conservero Espanol (or Spanish Canning Consortium Group) has shut down its canned anchovy facility in Colindres and moved the entire operation to its factory in Santona. Tomas Exposito, the firm's human resources director, said the move will improve the competitiveness of the business. "We have decided to centralise anchovy production in the Santona plant, which is more modern and has more space," he said. The Santona plant will now process anchovies, skipjack tuna and albacore tuna.
