Spring frosts predicted to slash Argentine apple and pear output

This article was originally published in Foodnews

ARGENTINE fresh apple and pear production is forecast decreasing to 860 000 tonnes and 700 000 tonnes respectively in 2010, owing to late frosts which affected blossoming in spring 2009. A rebound to 140 000 tonnes is, however, expected for fresh table grapes as a result of higher yields, thanks to good weather conditions in the main growing area.
