Spanish wine exports up

SPANISH wine exports reached 381.3 million litres in Q1 2010, up 16.4% from the 327.5 million litres exported in Q1 2009, announced the Spanish Wine Market Observatory (OeMv). Vladimir Pekic writes: In terms of value, exports in Q1 2010 inched up 7.2% to EUR399.8 million. Foreign sales of bottled wines without Protected Denomination of Origin (PDO) totalled 99.1 million litres (+108.9%) and earned the country EUR85.4 million (+108.9%). Conversely, sales of bottled PDO wines dropped to 55.05 million litres (-6.8%) and EUR165.0 million (-4.8%). Exports to the US, Spain's third largest buyer, went up 20.6% to EUR41.45 million.
