Falkirk distillery companyThis article was originally published in Foodnews
THE Scottish government has given its final approval to a new GBP5.0 million whisky distillery in Falkirk. The Falkirk Distillery Company (FDC)'s distillery in Polmont will be the first to operate in the town since the Rosebank Distillery was shut in 1993. Rosebank Distillery, which dated from the 1840s, produced a triple-distilled single malt. The bottles currently sell for more than GBP200. FDC will not be able to use the Rosebank brand name, however, as it is a trademark of Diageo.
