This article was originally published in Foodnews

RWANDA's largest beer and soft drink maker, Bralirwa, has unveiled a new carbonated soft drink. Fanta Fiesta is blackcurrant flavoured and joins the Orange and Citron varieties already bottled by the company. Packed in 30cl bottles, it is priced at RWF250 (USD0.43). Bralirwa's introduction of Fanta Fiesta comes days after its immediate competitor, Brasserie des Mille Collines Ltd (BMC), which also produces Skol beer, announced that it will be launching five new different soft drinks by the end of this year. Bralirwa, 70% owned by Heineken and 30% by the Rwandan government, also plans to increase its production by 7% to 1.35 million hectolitres of beer and soft drinks from 1.25 million hectolitres in 2009.
