New juice and paste plant

This article was originally published in Foodnews

THE Bank for investment and Development of the Economic Community of West African States (EBID) has granted a loan of XOF7.2 billion (USD13.2 million) to the government of Burkina Faso for the construction and equipment of a mango juice and tomato paste plant. Mango production in the country is currently pegged at 200 000 tonnes per year, with fresh domestic consumption only making up 100 000 tonnes/year, resulting in significant losses for producers. The plant, which is expected to process 250 tonnes of tomatoes and 240 tonnes of mango per day, will be installed in Loumbila, 2km away from the capital.
