Cannery has suitors

UP TO five seafood processors are interested in taking over the Bumble Bee sardine cannery in Maine in the US, according to the state's governor. John Baldacci met with Bumble Bee's chief executive, Chris Lischewski, to discuss possible future uses for the 100-year old cannery. Bumble Bee announced last month it will shut down the plant, the last sardine cannery operating in the country, due to reduced catch limits for herring.
