Iceland sets higher mackerel quota

ICELAND's minister of fisheries, Jón Bjarnason, has set a unilateral mackerel quota for 2011 of 146 818 tonnes, an increase of 16 818 tonnes or 12.9% over the 2010 quota. This follows a decision by the EU and Norway to increase their quotas for the northeast Atlantic fishery in 2011 ( FOODNEWS 17 December ).
