EU mulls genetically modified maize co-existence

The European Commission is to start developing co-existence measures for genetically modified and conventional maize crops early in 2008. Further crops could follow -soon" provided -good progress" is made with maize, says Nikiforos Sivenas of the Commission's Agriculture Directorate-General. The new measures will not be mandatory, he stressed at a recent EU co-existence conference in Spain.
