Brazil farmer group backs anti-piracy drive:

The Brazilian co-operatives association, the OCB, is supporting national agrochemical associations in their campaign against illegal pesticide use. The Brazilian agrochemical industry trade union, the Sindag, and the national agricultural and veterinarian raw material distributors' association, the Andav, started a national campaign against pesticide piracy five years ago. More than 300 tonnes of illegal agrochemicals have been seized in the period, the Sindag says. The annual cost of piracy to the industry was estimated at R$70-100 million five years ago. That has risen to around R$500 million, the union adds.
