Syngenta/AgroFresh confirm 1-MCP deal
Syngenta and Rohm and Haas’ US subsidiary, AgroFresh (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), have signed a definitive agreement to develop and commercialise AgroFresh’s plant growth regulator, 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP), for stress tolerance. The deal was agreed in principle earlier this year ( Agrow No 536, p 3). AgroFresh markets 1-MCP as a ripening control fumigant for fruit and vegetables under the SmartFresh brand in some 26 countries. Syngenta and AgroFresh plan to commercialise a sprayable formulation for stress tolerance under the Invisa brand within two years. Invisa has been approved in Argentina and Chile, with US approval expected this year.
