GM crops not linked with US weed diversity

US researchers have shown that weed diversity is influenced by geography and crop management rather than by whether genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant crops have been cultivated on the site. The study on 156 field sites with at least a three-year history of growing glyphosate-tolerant crops was conducted by university researchers in six states (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi, Nebraska and North Carolina). They examined the effects on weed communities of cropping system and crop rotation, including the frequency of planting glyphosate-tolerant crops.
